Engine
Diesel engine oil. Most excavators and tractors spec a 15W-40 or 5W-40 CK-4 oil. Use 0W-40 only when the manual allows it — that is the Alaska cold-start grade.

Tractors
Same diesel engine. Different hydraulic oil.
A tractor that shares one sump between the transmission, the hydraulics, and the wet brakes does not get excavator anti-wear oil. The engine still gets Max-Duty in the grade on the valve cover.
